The Santa Monica Pier

Surfing near the pier is popular, particularly on the north side of the pilings where the sandbars often create rideable waves. However, the water here is crowded with swimmers, boogie boarders, and surf schools, so caution is always advised.

You won't go hungry on South Beach. The pier itself is lined with food stands offering everything from churros and funnel cakes to fresh seafood. Just steps off the sand, Ocean Avenue boasts a row of upscale restaurants, lively bars, and cafes offering sweeping ocean views.
